About Me

Hi! I am Malia, the woman behind Anchoring the Home. I started this blog to share my experiences as a military spouse, boy mom, homeschooling parent, and entrepreneur with other women. My hope is that something I have to say resonates with you and reminds you that you are not alone in any struggle, dream, or fear.

I am married to my high school sweetheart who is currently serving in the military. We have two amazing, wild, brilliant little boys. We also have a cat and two dogs…and if my oldest son has his way, those won’t be the only pets we own for long! I homeschool both of our kids and I co-own a boutique business with my mom which I help run from home. I love reading, binging my favorite shows on Netflix and Hulu, indulging in way too much chocolate and coffee (but I mean, is there really such a thing as too much of that?!), introverting like a boss, and bringing mountains of social awkwardness to any social gatherings that I manage to convince myself aren’t totally horrible ideas to attend (spoiler: I’m usually lying to myself for the benefit of my extroverted husband and kids and will retreat to my safe bubble quickly!)

I believe that as women, we often get caught up in serving others (which is not in itself a bad thing…a servant’s heart is such a blessing!), that we forget that our dreams, our emotions, and our well-being matters too! I spent way too many years, caught up in trying to form my identity based on who I thought other people thought I should be. It’s still a struggle some days, but I’m finding my voice again. I’m chasing after dreams I used to think were far too big and ambitious to ever achieve…and I’m starting to catch some of them! I want that for you too, so I hope you will stick around, find some inspiration, and connect with me on social media to tell me all about the journey you are on to conquer those huge goals of yours!
